Zeytin 2017 Zeytin Okulu’nda!

Ege’de Atölye ZEYTİN 2017 uluslararası bilim insanlarını, uzmanları, öğrencileri ve öğrenmeye meraklıları bir araya getiren bir disiplinler ve kültürler arası öğrenme programıdır. Gerek okuldan bunalanöğrencilere gerekse sistem içinde sınırlı hareket alanı bulabilen hocalara özgürce düşünecek, tartışacak, öğrenecek bir ortam sunar. Diploma ve meslek odaklı eğitimin ötesiyle ilgilidir ama toplumdan kopuk değildir. Program, katılımcıları bütüne bakmaya, bilimsel düşünmeye, araştırmaya, yaratıcı ve sorgulayıcı olmaya, kendilerini daha iyi ifade etmeye heveslendirir, eğitimle toplum arasında köprüler kurar. İçerik akademik açıdan yoğundur, üniversite birinci sınıf seviyesindedir. 1- Can we find a basic model for design? Can we use nature or organic objects to create art objects? 2- Do we observe the space? Do we see the object only or do we see it with its space? 3- How can we interact and be more free whilecreating? 4- What color is olive or olive oil? How do we see and define the colors? How can we deepen a research? 5- Critical thinking or repeating what is learned? 6- Is accumulative learning a method for our body?

Activities 1- A comprehension of Gestalt theory and scientific facts. Creating a model of senses by experiment. Comparing science- social science- art. 2- Cut out game for tectonic(closed) and atectonic (open) forms. A.Questions and topics: How/what can we learn about a community through their food and food customs and from the way they talk about food? The development of food studies and foodways in anthropology and folklore Food as a way to think about nature and nurture, about the biological and the cultural aspect of our lives Is food a gift or commodity? What are the principles by which food and olives circulate inside and outside the community?
B.Student activities The value, meanings and role of olives and olive oil in İnecik in historical perspective Students will explore how olives and olive oil are represented within a broader cultural context.  What is Food? When, where, how, with whom do you eat? Olive (Oil) Value Chain

Olive and olive oil production poses challenging production and supply chain problems.
The objectives of this part are:
1.Understanding the olive value chain as a system from a competition and cooperation perspective 2.Understanding olive yield and its effects on olive oil production 3.Understanding olive and olive oil market demand and prices 4.Understanding quality and costs 5.Mapping to other production problems (vaccines, semiconductors etc) 6.Developing and playing a game where players give investment, production and pricing decisions under random yield and random demand
The program is envisioned as two sessions of about 60-75 minutes. The first session will be dedicated to discussions on the first five objectives. The second session will be dedicated to playing the game and discussing the results.
The game requires 2-4 teams competing in a single market by producing high quality olive oil. It is important that the teams discuss their decisions. The …

The Olive And Its Precious Oil Pat O’Hara and Rich Blatchly Key Questions Unit 1: The Tree What is unique about an olive grove? What does an olive tree need to grow? What is the difference between wild and cultivated olives? 
Unit 2:The Oil How is the oil extracted from the fruit? What are the standards used to evaluate the oil? How can we measure defects in the oil?
Unit 3: Our Health Why are the olives and some olive oils so bitter? Where does the bitter flavor come from? Is bitter the same as pungent? Are the bitter or pungent compounds good for us? What are some of the other health benefits of olive oil?
Unit 4: Our Community What do local villagers and neighbors think we might do for them?
